Ruby's Worry by Tom Percival
We are big fans of children’s author Tom Percival. ‘Ruby’s Worries’ is a gentle and reassuring story that follows Ruby, a happy and imaginative girl who discovers a worry that grows bigger each day. Through her journey, Ruby learns that sharing her feelings with a friend can help her feel like herself again.
You can find copies in most local libraries and a variety of bookshops throughout Ireland.
Tip: Reading this book together can open up conversations about emotions and the importance of sharing our worries. It can be particularly helpful at this time of year if you have a child starting preschool or primary school, or may be finding things a little tricky.

Family Tip for Toddlers:
Create a “Goodbye Box” for Morning Routines
Toddlers can struggle with separation anxiety as routines like creche and childminders resume. One simple trick is a “Goodbye Box”:
Fill a small box with items that remind your toddler of you—a photo, a small soft toy, or a note.
Each morning, let your toddler choose an item to take with them while saying goodbye.
This creates a comforting routine and helps them feel secure when you leave.
Bonus: This also teaches early independence and gives your toddler a sense of control over the routine!
